10 good reasons to use Carefix bras after breast surgery.

A regular or tight-fitting sports bra is not good enough.

After surgery, it is important to have optimal conditions for rapid wound healing and a long-lasting aesthetic result. Here are 10 good reasons why we recommend using Carefix post-operative bras after breast surgery.

1. The best fixation, stabilisation and support for pain relief.

After the operation, the enlarged, reduced or reconstructed breast is tender, painful and sensitive. Despite pain-relieving medication, breast movement often causes pain. To minimise movement of the chest, it is important that it is fixed, stabilised and supported. The Carefix bra provides excellent fixation, stabilisation and support at a level not found in a conventional or sports bra.

2. Targeted compression, optimal wound healing and a more beautiful scar.

After any type of breast surgery, the damaged tissues swell and bleed. Swelling is often very painful and can be detrimental to the healing process, as the build-up of blood and fluid after surgery can impair the supply of essential nutrients, oxygen and other healing components to damaged tissues.

The compression provided by the Carefix bra reduces both swelling and bleeding. Compression means that pressure is applied directly to the swollen area. When compression is applied, the Carefix bra ensures that the accumulation of blood and fluids is reduced, creating an optimal environment for rapid wound healing, as damaged tissue structures under the wound and the wound itself are supplied with the necessary components for healing. This means that the wound will heal properly, which in turn will help to create a nicer looking scar. In addition, the compression of the Carefix bra helps to flatten the scar – a particularly important feature if a woman’s body tends to form large, puffy and prominent scars.

In Carefix bras, compression is targeted according to the type of surgical intervention and therefore the Carefix bra maintains more compression levels, each level exactly where it is needed, with the correct pressure level approved by medical experts.

3. Reduce the risk of infection

The deterioration of the wound healing process increases the risk of wound infection, as slowed healing leaves the wound open for longer periods, creating access for harmful bacterial infection. An infected wound causes a woman a lot of pain and discomfort. It can also prolong hospital stays and increase the use of medicines, both of which increase hospital costs. Unfortunately, it can also affect the appearance of the wound and the scar later on, leaving a woman with a unique scar that might have been less visible if a good and supportive Carefix bra had been used.

4. Excellent elongation and contraction properties

One of the unique features of Carefix bras is the four-way stretch fabric. The 4-way stretch material stretches and conforms to the contours of the body in four directions, rather than the usual two, offering better adaptability. It has better expansion and contraction properties. The benefit is that the material adapts continuously to both post-operative swelling and the reduction of swelling.

This flexibility enhances fit, comfort and support, as the material ensures a snug and comfortable fit throughout the wearing period. This ensures that the pressure exerted by the material on the skin, and thus on the underlying tissue, is applied at any stage of the wearing period. With enough support, the discomfort and/or pain is reduced or even eliminated.

5. Supporting surgical outcome

Breast and plastic surgeons always do their best to create a satisfactory surgical outcome to the satisfaction of both the patient and themselves. And so the question is whether it would be wise to compromise the post-operative result with a bandage or sports brace, which may either be weird to wear or may not be supportive enough. And which results in great discomfort and a worse post-operative outcome. The answer is probably not – and that’s why the Carefix bra is the ideal choice for post-surgical recovery, as it speeds up recovery and supports the surgical outcome.

6. Quick, safe and painless post-operative mobilisation

It is important that the woman is mobilised as soon as possible after surgery to further reduce complications associated with the operation. As the Carefix bra provides protection, fixation, stabilisation and essential support, it contributes to comfortable mobilisation early in the post-operative process, as well as at any other time during the recovery period. In addition, the supportive function of the Carefix bra reduces pain, which in turn has a positive effect on a woman’s motivation to be active and minimises the risk of post-operative complications associated with physical inactivity.

7. More comfortable and natural to wear than a bandage

Most women wear a bra every day, and wearing a bra after surgery feels natural to them. Using a Carefix post-operative bra not only increases post-operative comfort – it also helps to reduce feelings of abnormality and sickness.

This is supported by a study conducted in Australia in 2004, which involved women who compared the use of a bra and a sanitary towel following breast surgery.

A randomised controlled trial was carried out to compare the bra with the post-operative breast ligament in patients who underwent lumpectomy, partial mastectomy and total mastectomy.

Fifty-eight patients took part in the study. Six different parameters were compared and the bra was considered superior in all criteria. A small group of patients who initially used a bandage and then used a bra found the bra more comfortable, so the overall conclusion of the study is that post-operative discomfort can be reduced by using a bra rather than a breast bandage*.

8. Improve breast contour and body image

Carefix bras improve overall appearance by supporting and lifting the breasts. The pocketed bras offer the option of inserting textile padding into the pockets, which also helps to improve perceived attractiveness, confidence and overall body image. The filler pad acts as a contour enhancing element, creating the shape of the breast – either permanently or until reconstructive surgery is performed. A visually improved breast contour reduces post-operative anxiety, stress and depression, as well as the risk of stigma and isolation. These are all features that cannot be provided by a bra, a regular bra or a sports bra, as they are not designed to be worn with a pad.

9. Increase skin and wound care

Carefix bras are produced as knitted tubes and therefore do not have seams in critical areas such as the ribcage, chest, underarms or back. Sutures in these areas can cause wound and skin irritation, itching, slower wound healing and an increased risk of infection, which can compromise the surgical outcome. With a seamless concept, Carefix bras play a pivotal role in skin and wound comfort, reducing the risk of infection and promoting rapid recovery.

10. Provide posture adjustments

In general, a good posture is important to avoid tight muscles, pain, loss of strength and stress on joints. A good posture can protect both muscles and joints from excessive strain. After breast surgery, it is a typical reaction of the body to protect the area to be treated. If muscle pain, soreness or tension occurs after breast surgery, a woman’s movement pattern may become “defensive posturing”. This posture is characterised by a slight forward tilt of the head, rising shoulders and hunching, bending of the elbows and leaning of the body forward from the waist. Over time, this protective reaction can cause muscles to shorten and tighten, which in turn can lead to uncomfortable pain in the neck, shoulders, back and chest.

Carefix bras have been designed with the need for positional adjustment in mind. That’s why many bras have a high back with integrated support zones – to bring the head, back and shoulders back to their original position to improve posture, reducing pain in the neck, shoulders, back and chest.

CAREFIX BRAS ARE THE RIGHT CHOICE.

There are many different types of post-operative bras on the market – many styles and brands to choose from. These 10 reasons highlight the advantages of Carefix bras over others due to their superior quality and functionality.

Many users and professionals have verified and confirmed that Carefix post-operative bras help you to cope best after breast surgery, ensuring that the recovery period is as short and comfortable as possible.
